If you’re like me, you enjoy a bit of terror from time to time. This could be in the form of a horror movie, a rollercoaster, or a haunted house. Well, today you’re in luck, I’m here to tell you about Lore, an award-winning podcast that exposes plenty of real world horror history for you to enjoy. Lore's tagline, “because sometimes the truth is more frightening that fiction,” prepares you to dive into stories from around the world. Stories of creatures, people, and places that you could only imagine in your wildest nightmares.

I actually found Lore a backwards way. I first found the Lore TV show on Amazon Prime. Since the podcast was so well-renowned and highly-reviewed, they turned in to a docuseries. This series was voiced by the same podcaster, Aaron Mahnke, but they spiced it up with clips, animations, and graphics. Once I finished the TV series, I moved onto Lore the podcast. The main difference between the show and the podcast is that the podcast could go in depth on specific topics, events, places, and people depending on the amount of content. The show covers a specific topic and jumps around to different events to explain the topic fully. Episode 1 of Lore, They Made a Tonic, aired March 18th, 2015 and covers various vampire lore throughout history.

He gives you the spooky story campfire experience, imbibing you with thrilling history all while weaving in the psychology behind our fears. Everything in his podcasts are tailored for the experience of wonder, from the haunting background music to the way he voices his writing. Any thrill-seeker should love the haunting tales in Lore. Aaron has 3 other related podcasts with a similar feel. Cabinet of Curiosities covers the very unusual and bizarre, Unobscured is a deep-dive into the Salem witch trials of 1692, and Noble Blood explores the history of the royals of the world.
