This month, the team at ATA had altruistic campaigns — marketing strategies or programs that are focused on raising either funds or awareness for charitable or cultural causes — on the mind. We took some time to reflect on the campaigns that have inspired or impacted us and our communities in various ways and how they made a difference. Here's everything we wrote about during Altruism Month on the blog.
Elyse introduced us to Chidera Eggerue and how she started the #SaggyBoobsMatter hashtag and campaign, which aims to promote body acceptance and self love in an age of unrealistic beauty standards on social media and beyond.
Morgan reported on Stonewall UK and its "Some people are gay. Get over it!" campaign to promote LGBTQ+ inclusivity by partnering with a variety of different institutions.
Ivy reflected on the viral ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, both at its peak in 2014 and the lasting effects of the awareness and funds the user-generated social campaign generated.
Carter, our editorial intern, discussed the Greenpeace organization's Twitter strategy and how it uses the platform to promote global causes and spread environmental awareness.
